Tourism in India most important for economical growth. The world tourism council reports, tourism supports 37 million jobs,  8.7% of its total employment in 2015. In October 2015, India’s medical tourism sector was estimated to be worth $ 3 billion. It is projected to grow to $7 to 8 billion by 2020. About 8.89 million foreign people arrived in India in 2016 to 8.02 million compare in 2015 recording a growth 10.7%.

India has moved  up 52^nd position on global list of countries in terms of their travel and tourism competitive, while India fares much better as a business destination, the infrastructure gaps, concern of health, hygiene         and environment  sustainability and safety and security has dragged down the overall ranking.

The  list has been topped by Spain, which is followed by France, Germany,US, UK, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, Japan and Canada in the top ten.

It mentions that India has quiet good air transport  rank 35^th, particular given the country’s stage of development, and responsible ground transport infrastructure rank 50^th. The country also scores    high on natural and cultural resources ranked 12^th. Some other aspects of its  tourism infrastructure remain somewhat under developed however. The nation has very few hotel rooms per capital by international comparison and low ATM penetration. The world tourism organization reported that India’s receipts from tourism during 2012 ranked 16 in the world, and 7^th among Asian and Pacific counties.

The future of India tourism industry year by year, India offers many tourism packages to the visitors. India is the only country that offers different kind of tourism in India. The tourist can enjoy different kind of tourism following by Eco tourism, Health tourism, Adventure tourism,Cultural  tourism , Heritage tourism and Wild life tourism.

India plans to modify the visa policy during 2014 by allowing visitors from most counties to obtain an electronic visa online , as the result of visa policy Indian government expecting a best in tourism industry. So, India will achieve a strong position on tourism industry  within few years.
